Behavioral and Skills Assessments

Behavioral and skills assessments are conducted prior to the delivery of behavior analytic treatment. Initial assessments ensure that goals, objectives, and target behaviors for decrease and increase are inline with your child’s current needs. Assessments may include interviews with caretakers, direct observation, the use and implementation of standardized assessment tools to identify areas of need. These domains may include:

  • adaptive and self care skills

  • attending and social referencing

  • cognitive function

  • community participation

  • coping and tolerance skills

  • emotional development

  • family relationships

  • play and leisure skills 

  • pre-academic skills

  • reduction of interfering or inappropriate behaviors

  • safety skills

  • self-advocacy and independence

  • self-management

  • social relationships

  • vocational skills

 

Direct and Indirect Supervision/ Treatment Analysis

Direct supervision and indirect supervision are integral in producing good treatment outcomes. This involves contact with the client, caregivers, as well as the instructor providing direct instruction. Supervision also includes on going development, analysis of data, evaluation, coordination and revision of treatment commensurate with the changing needs of the client and the family.

Direct Supervision may include:

  • direct observation of treatment implementation and evaluation for revision

  • monitoring treatment integrity and satisfactory implementation by staff

  • training staff in the implementation of new and or revised protocols

Indirect Supervision may include:

  • developing treatment goals, protocols, and data collection systems

  • data summary and analysis

  • evaluating client progress and adjust treatment protocols based on data

  • coordination with other service providers

  • reviewing and reporting progress towards treatment goals
